All the Awesome of November in Documentary Family Photography

photography contract for documentary family photography template

Here’s a round-up of happenings around the Fearless and Framed Community this month.

Note from our Founder:

Hello friend!
I love November. How about you?

For me, this month is when dreams turn into action plans – or at least, a single next step is decided. It’s the month for clarity and reflection. It’s when you get to say, “nope, I’m not doing that again,” or “NOW, I’ll start leaning into THIS dream.”

Up next for me? I’m:

  • pausing the podcast (just for a little while, promise! I’ve got exciting plans)
  • gearing up to re-open the Preservation Project in early 2019
  • RETIRING a bunch of F&F shop items (like, soon!)
  • getting on the phone with Preservation Project participants for stories, testimonials, & clarity on how this beautiful experience made an impact
  • paying attention to visibility efforts (something I’ve ignored for the past 2 years!)

So, how do you get to your next steps? What exactly does that LOOK like when ya break it down?

There’s dozens of tutorials that pop up this time of year on how people plan the next year of their business or use a certain organization system. There’s no one, right way to do this other than to role up your sleeves and put your pen to paper. I believe the more you write, the more you’ll learn about yourself and “your plan” will fall into place by only paying attention to the next step.

The key: pay attention to all areas of your life (and your business) that matter to you. Please, for the love, don’t dismiss parts of your life where the dreams feel like lightyears away. There’s always a step you can take to get one step closer.

So whether it be:

  • your marriage
  • your health
  • being a parent
  • how you make pictures
  • what you do with your pictures
  • documenting in other ways (beyond photographs)
  • growing your client roster
  • updating your website
  • honing in on YOUR story to put personality into your brand.

Literally, anything that matters, write about it.

Write about where you want to be; and where you’re at.
Decide on ONE thing you can do next and put that ONE thing on a calendar.
Decide what you WON’T do.
Decide on when + how you’ll give yourself more WHITE SPACE on your calendar to allow your mind to wander – without needed some sort of outcome.

That’s my basic “how to plan” tutorial.

Notice it’s not mapping out EVERY step of of the way. I absolutely get a little crafty with calendars, post-its, brain dumps, and my Madness planner

but always start with what’s on your heart + kindness for yourself on where you’re currently at in the process. << non-negotiable!

Pop into my Instagram DM & lmk what you’re working on in 2019 (or NOT working on!).
